8 Weeks to go!

The count down clock keeps ticking faster and faster and we can’t wait to be on the road!

It’s been a busy week, and we are genuinely touched by the feedback and support we’ve had in relation to the post Paul wrote about his experience with refusal of service at a cafe due to Luna. We thought we’d let you know that the cafe did realise their error and made contact with us twice to apologise and invite Paul back. Whilst he won’t be able to take them up on that offer because of the effect that day had on him, we do appreciate their honesty and taking the initiative to reach back to us. We know it won’t be the last time that Paul & Luna will be refused entry to a place of business, so we’ll be prepared to spend some time talking with the business owner/manager in those instances and ensure they know their legal obligations. After all, assistance dog handlers make very good customers if they are welcomed and made to feel comfortable!

We’re planning on having some stickers made up, to give to businesses who want to show their support to all assistance dogs and their handlers. We’ve seen ones for “Guide Dogs are welcome here”, so we thought we’d expand on that. Kirstine will play with some designs and we’ll let you know what we come up with.

It’s been a great boost for us to have Lightforce Australia and Vittori Communications come on board as sponsors. The more the merrier!

If you are one of our sponsors and haven’t yet sent the items, please contact us for a mailing address. It’s going to take time to fit everything to the vehicle & camper trailer when we get them, so the sooner we have the sponsored items, the better.

Speaking of the vehicle & camper trailer, we’re hoping to hear back in the next couple of weeks about these. One of our existing sponsors has reached out to his business network to try and secure a off-road camper trailer for us. We certainly appreciate his efforts – going over and above what he is already doing for us through his own business! It goes to show that people and businesses believe in our cause, and word is getting around quickly.

In a week of ups and downs, we were thrilled to finally have cracked over 100 Likes on our Facebook page. We know there are more people following on other forms of social media, but we did have a “high five” moment when we saw the Facebook statistic. Thank you all!!
